Power-over-Ethernet allows IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, surveillance cameras and other enterprise terminals to safely receive power over standard category 5 LAN cabling, without modification to existing infrastructure. PoE is already widely adopted in the market providing for faster, less disruptive and more flexible powering scheme than AC whilst saving up to 80% of overall installation costs. Evaluation Products
The PowerDsine Power-over-Ethernet Tester (PD-TESTER), connected to a RJ-45 outlet, tests the cabling infrastructure for the presence of power, either IEEE802.3af standard-compliant or pre-standard.
