RMA – Return Material Authorization
Goods that for different reasons are to be returned to Westcon must always be preceded by an RMA request. The document "Westcon RMA request form" is to be filled out by the dealer and attached to an e-mail to email@example.com
The RMA request will then be processed by Westcon RMA Department.
If a RMA request is approved a RMA number will be generated and information on how and where the item should be returned will be forwarded to the requestor.
A RMA number is valid for 30 days. The item must have arrived at the address stated by Westcon RMA Department within the 30 days, otherwise the RMA number will become invalid and a new RMA request must be made
Reasons for returning a product:
- an item out of warranty is broken and needs repair.
- an item in warranty is broken and needs repair.
- the partner has made an error when ordering.
- the wrong item was delivered.
- an item delivered was broken on delivery.
Expressions and abbreviations used in conjunction with RMA:
Warranty on goods sold is generally one year, starting from Westcon invoice date, variations may occur depending on vendor.
COM (Commercial Return)
If a product has been incorrectly ordered or the wrong item was delivered, it is regarded as a COM.
DOA (Dead On Arrival)
If a product is delivered and fails within a period of time, it is regarded as a DOA.
The time period that a unit can be considered a DOA differs depending on vendor.
